2007 Chevrolet Aveo front
Chevrolet's been selling more Aveos than expected, yet has chosen to unveil the second version only three years after the first. The Aveo's newness isn't readily apparent: it's still a Daewoo-engineered-and-built subcompact with a 103-horsepower 1.6-liter twin-cam 4, a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic, and nearly unchanged measurements. Some highlights include the revised interior and stereo, which now features an iPod output jack. Its stated chief competitors are the Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio, though the Aveo is also against some stiff new 2007s from Japan: Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, Nissan Versa. Sales begin in summer.
