2007 Mazda CX-7 rear
As the tardiest latecomer to arrive at the mid-size crossover SUV party, Mazda stands out from the Highlander, Pilot, Murano, Enedeavor, and Tribeca crowd with – surprise! – a turbocharger. 244 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque make it about even with the fastest of the class, but the punchy, spiky power delivery of a turbocharged 2.3-liter 4 (through a 6-speed automatic) ensures a different personality. The CX-7 rides on a strut front, rear E-link suspension and gives a choice of front- and all-wheel-drive. Keeping with its nature, the CX-7 will be a 5-seater only.
