2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser front2
With five SUVs apparently not enough, Toyota has opted to take the 4Runner's mechanicals and draft the body of a new nostalgic off-roader around it. As a throwback to something called the FJ40, this FJ Cruiser, on sale this spring, "was created to give customers the freedom to go anywhere and do anything." A 239-horsepower 4.0 V6 works toward that end, and though available in rear-wheel-drive, the FJ Cruiser can be equipped with either a part- or full-time 4WD system, with a 6-speed manual available with the latter (in place of the standard 5-speed automatic). Suicide rear doors ease entry into the back seat, and a $22K base price eases purchase.
