2007 Volvo C70 Side

Now that the old C70 coupe and convertibles dating back to the 1993 Volvo 850 have finally been retired, the world is ready for a new C70. All Volvos these days are based on one of two platforms, and the new C70 has adapted the one used for the S40 sedan and V50 wagon (and Mazda 3). The interior looks quite similar to those on related Volvos, and the C70 employs only the 218-horsepower turbocharged version of the inline 5-cylinder engine, coupled to a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. For now, the C70 comes only as a convertible with a fully automatic roof that opens or closes in under 30 seconds, and it's a steel hardtop roof at that, shielding occupants from the forces of weather and noise that pierce into softtop cars. As you'd expect from a Volvo, there are protection systems against whiplash and rollovers as well as door-mounted inflatable curtains for side impacts. Look for a price around $39,000.
