2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Front

Chevy's big sedan and coupe get a round of revisions similar to those given to the Pontiac Grand Prix and Buick LaCrosse in recent years. Their two V6s get a small bump in displacement to 3.5 and 3.9 liters – still pushrod designs with 4-speed automatics. Of more significance is the supercharged V6, which GM has dumped entirely and replaced with a 5.3-liter V8 with Displacement On Demand technology, thus bringing back the Impala SS. The appearances are much cleaner on both cars this year, inside and out.
