2013 Bentley Continental Flying Spur Review

Reviewed by Automotive on

Vehicle Overview

The 2013 Bentley Continental Flying Spur luxury full-size sedan is the long wheelbase version of the Continental GT coupe and convertible. The Flying Spur is powered by a 6.0-liter W12 engine with variable valve timing, producing 552 horsepower; however, fuel economy suffers at 8/13/10 mpg city/highway/combined. Even with a 23.8 gallon fuel tank, the range of the Continental Flying Spur is only 238 miles.

Although the Continental GT convertible and coupe models have been recently redesigned, the Flying Spur did not have a refresh or redesign for the 2013 model year, as an all-new Flying Spur will be coming for the 2014 model year. The 2013 Bentley Continental Flying Spur is based off the 2003 first-generation Continental, and this sedan manages a top speed of 194 mph, despite its large size and weight. Inside, the Flying Spur has been outfitted with a leather interior that extends to the tilt telescopic steering wheel. Wood inlays can be seen throughout the cabin, along with lamb's wool carpeting, making the 2013 Bentley Continental Flying Spur as comfortable as your living room.

Although the Bentley Muslanne, which has largely overshadowed the Continental Flying Spur may scream "rich," the Flying Spur's discreet styling lets owners drive by in their luxury car that costs twice as much as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class without a second glance, which may be a positive or negative feature depending on the driver.
