2010 BMW 6-Series Review

Luxury coupe/convertible packs power and prestige

Reviewed by Automotive on

In a Nutshell
The 2010 BMW 6 Series is a luxury line of coupes that are also offered as convertibles. Propelled by a 4.8-liter V-8 or a 5.0-liter V-10 engine, the BMW 6 Series comes with a standard transmission that is a six-speed automatic with manual shift control, while a six-speed manual transmission is optional.

The BMW 6 Series is a novel, fresh, and exhilarating vehicle with a remarkable, breathtaking interior design. While the 6 Series has a large body, the interior cabin is tight, legroom is compromised in the backseat area, and the trunk space is minimal. Known for its safety features, BMW does not slight the 6 Series; however, fuel economy ratings are in 15 mpg city / 23 mpg highway range.

New for 2010

For 2010 the BMW 6 Series received BMW's iDrive software and a hard-drive-based navigation system with 13 gigabytes of multimedia storage. Automatic transmission is now standard and the six-speed manual transmission is an option.

Engine: 4.8L V-8
Transmissions: 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic
Body Styles: Coupe, convertible
Trims: 650i Coupe, 650i Convertible

On the Outside

The BMW 6 Series' sleek, distinctive lines remain unchanged, while luminescent corona rings around the headlights reflect a distinctive BMW look.

From the Inside

The BWM 6 Series' cabin features "power everything," and the interior not covered in wood or metal trim pieces can be decorated in your choice of two different kinds of leather.

Driving Performance

The BMW 6 Series base V-8 produces 360 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque, with an exhaust system specially engineered to deliver a sporty note. The coupe can do zero to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, while the convertible trails a bit.

Safety Equipment

Standard safety systems on the BMW 6 Series include multilevel stability control, antilock disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, and front-seat side airbags. Side curtain airbags come with the coupe, while the convertible gets automatic rollover hoops.

Gas Mileage

650i: 17 mpg city/23 mpg highway
M6: 11 mpg city/15 mpg highway
