Both engines are mated with a smooth-shifting five-speed automatic transmission. The result is smooth and powerful acceleration. The 7-Series models are capable of going from zero to 60 mph in about six seconds and have a top speed of 155 mph. The 7-Series is built with an independent strut front suspension with a stabilizer bar and coil springs teamed with an independent multi-link rear suspension with a stabilizer bar and coil springs. This setup provides for a smooth and stable ride, even on rough surfaces. These BMWs handle superbly, giving drivers the ability to gracefully maneuver in traffic and take corners with ease. Steering responds accordingly, allowing for precise control.
The 2000 BMW 7-Series is equipped with anti-lock brakes on all four wheels and traction control for improved handling. There are driver and front passenger front-impact and front side-impact airbags installed. Rear side-impact airbags are optional. Child safety door locks are integrated into the rear doors.
