What's New

The 2003 BMW M3’s body design has smoother lines than the previous year’s model and an overall aerodynamic forward slant. Standard features in this edition are rain-sensing wipers. The 2003 BMW M3 comes with 18-inch performance tires and sport suspension. An additional standard feature is the DVD-based navigation system with voice directions.

Exterior

The exterior of the 2003 BMW M3 amongst the BMW family of vehicles has a distinct front bumper with ellipse-shaped fog lights. It has flaring wheel fenders and a low riding all round apron. This apron gives the impression of a low ground clearance giving the 2003 BMW M3 and over stance that is ready for take-off. The 2003 BMW M3 comes with a rear spoiler that accentuates the ready for flight appearance.

Interior

The driver gets an electro-chromatic rearview mirror on the inside. This technology dims the glare of the lights of the vehicle in the rear in night driving. Both the driver and the passenger get an illuminating mirror each. The rear seat has a split-folding seatback.

The dashboard has a clock, a trip computer, and a music system. The sound system comes with ten speakers and an AM/FM radio with a single CD-player. Power features include door locks, power and heated mirrors, and power windows. The rear view mirror on the passenger side has reverse tilt capability. Reverse tilt allows the driver to see the rear of the vehicle for safety when backing into parking spaces.

The leather steering wheel has cruise control and audio controls mounted on it. The vehicle comes with cup holders in the front, and it has storage in the front console. The trunk has a trunk release lever on the inside. The lever enables a person trapped in the trunk to open it from inside the trunk. The speed-proportional power steering is on a tilt and telescopic steering wheel. The BMW M3 has reading lights in the front and in the rear. The interior dimensions are 37.5 inches headroom, 41.7 inches legroom, and 54.5 inches shoulder room.

Performance & Handling

The 2003 BMW M3 comes with a 3.2-liter, six-cylinder engine, producing 333 hp at 7900 rpm, and 262 lb-ft at 4900 rpm torque, double overhead cam (DOHC), with 24 valves, and variable valve timing (VVT) . The BMW M3 is a rear drive, six-speed manual transmission with limited slip differential in the rear. The suspension system of the BMW M3 is superior and comes with modified MacPherson strut suspension, Multi-link rear suspension, and four-wheel independent suspension. The wheels come with a four-wheel Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS), stability and traction control systems, and electronic brake-force distribution.

Safety

The 2003 BMW M3 comes with head airbags in the front and side-mounted airbags for the driver and front passenger. It has two height-adjustable headrests in the front. Height adjustable headrests protect occupants from neck injuries and whiplash in an impact. The seatbelts come with pre-tension mechanism. The mechanism holds seat occupants against the seatback in an impact or in sudden braking. The vehicle comes with emergency braking assist system. The front and rear wheels come with ventilated disc brakes. For the driver to have better vision in all types of lighting, the 2003 BMW M3 has daytime running lights, fog lights, and dusk sensing headlights.
