The 2011 BMW M3 is a luxury sports car that is available as a sedan, coupe, or convertible. Owners appreciate the beautiful, yet powerful lines of the exterior, the workmanship and quality evident in the interior, and the heart-racing thrill they feel when hearing the roar of the 414 hp engine coming to life. They understand how horsepower, aerodynamics, and sport-tuned suspension comes together, resulting in a car that can go from street to track with the press of a few.
Body Styles: sedan, coupe, convertible
Engines: 4.0L V-8
Transmissions: six-speed manual transmission
The M3’s body was restyled and includes a “powerdome” on the aluminum hood, flanked by two air intake accents to improve airflow to the engine. Additional cooling is provided by larger intake vents in the front end of the car. The roof is now made of carbon fiber to help decrease the weight of the vehicle. The fenders are flared to accommodate either 18- or 19-inch wheels with performance tires. A rear-spoiler improves the aerodynamics in this restyled vehicle.
Optional equipment includes push-button start, 19-inch double-spoked wheels with performance tires, moonroof, and rain-sensing wipers.
Standard equipment includes speed-proportional power steering, power heated mirrors, power windows and door locks, driver and passenger seat with adjustable lumbar support, height-adjustable driver and passenger seats, sport front seats, leather/cloth upholstery, cruise control, tilt/telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, interior air filter, dual-zone climate controls, tachometer, trip computer, telephone capability, and a AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with 10 speakers.
Performance & Handling
Equipped with a 414-hp, 4.0-liter V-8 engine and a six-speed manual transmission, the M3 is most powerful version of the BMW 3 Series.
The sports-tuned suspension available as an option for the coupe and sedan adds Electronic Damping Control (EDC), which automatically adjusts the shock absorber settings based on changes in vehicle speed, load, and driving conditions. Three settings—Normal, Sport, or Comfort—determine the stiffness of the suspension and offer the ultimate in handling and comfort. This stability control system as well as 19-inch wheels provide the driver with an impressive, high-performance, racecar ride.
The convertible offers a power-retractable hardtop that glides effortlessly and stores within the trunk. It offers seating for four, and gives the driver and passengers the exhilaration of an open-air ride in a high-performance vehicle.
BMW Ultimate Service is the program that offers all routine maintenance, which is performed free of charge for the duration of the car’s four-year, 50,000 mile warranty. The program includes Roadside Assistance. You’ll never have to change a tire during this period since the car is not sold with a spare.
MDrive offers the driver the ability to customize the driving experience. By using MDrive, the stability control system can be set to track-oriented M Dynamic Mode (MDM), which allows for more wheel slip and yaw angle. EDC settings can modify handling depending on the surface of the road. Engine response can be adjusted by pushing a button in the center console to activate normal, sport, or sport plus programs.
Standard equipment includes a four-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), power brakes, variable intermittent rain-sensing wipers, rear defogger, dual front side-mounted airbags, emergency braking assist, front and rear ventilated disc brakes, cornering lights, daytime running lights, dusk-sensing xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, stability control, traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, anti-theft alarm system, rear park distance control, and reverse tilt passenger mirror for viewing curb when the vehicle is in reverse.
