When compared to competitors like the Lexus CT 200h or Audi A3, the BMW X1 doesn’t hold up. Although the performance aspects of the vehicle are great, the interior styling and exterior design leave much to be desired. Cargo space is extremely limited, which is not what is expected from a hatchback or subcompact crossover vehicle. The interior is fitted with "leatherette" upholstery, silver trim, and 8-way adjustable front seats.
Optional features for the 2013 BMW X1 include the xLine package, Fineline Bay Matte Wood Trim, Cold Weather Package, Lighting Package, Premium Package, as well as optional paint colors, Satellite radio, Bang & Olufsen sound system, and BMW applications. Thanks to safety features including BMW's Advanced Safety System, Assist eCall with Emergency Request and Automatic Collision Notification, the BMW X1 has earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick award.
