Buick has taken the traditional, boxy SUV and re-shaped it into sleek and smooth people- and cargo-mover that can hold eight in luxurious comfort while still providing the kind of functionality motorists want.
It would be hard to find a straight line anywhere on the Enclave's sculpted body. Up front, HID headlamps are molded into rounded and flared fenders that frame the waterfall grille. The multi-lens tail lamps flow into the curved rear power lift-gate.
The Enclave is available in two trim levels: CX and CXL. While the CXL is the more upscale of the two, you'd be hard pressed to tell that our test CX model was not a top of the line... especially since it came outfitted with the optional power sunroof and 18-inch machined aluminum wheels.
The 2010 Enclave is powered by an updated direct injected 3.6-liter V6 that puts out 288 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels or available all wheel drive through a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel economy for the Enclave ranges from 16 miles per gallon city, up to 24 miles per gallon highway.
Luxury abounds on the inside: from the adjustable leather wrapped multi- function steering wheel to the first and second row captain's chairs with fold-down arm rests...and the rear seat DVD entertainment system that includes wireless remote and headsets.
Practicality is not neglected in the Enclave...For easy access by third row passengers, the second row seats slide forward. A fully folding configuration of seating allows for maximum flexibility and cargo carrying capacity.
Safety is a priority in the Enclave. Dual stage air bags, side impact protection up front and side curtain protection for all three rows are standard equipment.
Initial base MSRP for the 2010 Buick Enclave is $35,165. A fully loaded All wheel drive CXL model can top $50,000. The Enclave is backed by a generous 5-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
