2012 Buick Verano Review

Nice, but no Audi or Lexus

Reviewed by Automotive on

Overview
The 2012 Buick Verano is Buick's newest model, which makes its debut in 2012. In an attempt to expand its brand, Buick has been rolling out new models, as the Verano is their third new model in the past two years, but the first compact luxury vehicle.

The Buick Verano can be summed up with two words; luxury and technology. It comes equipped with 10 air bags, an optional heated steering wheel, and a radio system that features OnStar connectivity. This luxurious vehicle is powered by an Ecotec 2.4-liter engine that produces 177-horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. Buick has announced a 2.0-liter engine will be offered in the future.

Although luxurious, the 2012 Buick Verano does have a sporty profile. It features a black chrome grille, blue translucent projector-beam headlights, potholes, and chrome accents. The interior has a softer side, equipped with soft-touch materials and premium leather. This is all complimented by the Verano's ambient lighting and leading-edge infotainment.

Technology is a clear strong-suit of the Buick Verano, featuring devices such as an electronic parking brake, push button engine-start, and a heated steering wheel that activates automatically in temperatures below 45 degrees. This all-new Buick is sure to be tested in a compact luxury market that includes the Audi A3 and Lexus IS 250.

Comments:

While not nearly as powerful as other cars in its class or at its price level, the 2012 Buick Verano is great for every day life. The Verano comes with a decent looking exterior and a huge range of accessories that make your listening and driving experience pleasant. Enjoy everything from climate control to cloth upholstery to help keep your car cool in the sun. Unfortunately the base Verano does not come with a navigation system but it does offer it as an optional upgrade. It is really hard to do without a built-in navigation in the modern day and age and it can be a true deal breaker to lack one. The power the Verano lacks allows it to get good mileage in both city and highway, averaging 25 mpg. It breaks well and has an excellent list of safety features that will keep you and your loved ones safe just in case anything happens. The interior space for the Verano is excellent too and if you have ever needed more head or leg room then the Verano will give it to you. The interior design of the Verano is also lovely and accommodating to both you and your passengers. Overall the Verano deserves a 3 out of 5 stars due to its lacking power and a number of features, such as GPS, that do not come standard.
