2009 Cadillac DTS Review

A luxurious ride that has lived past its prime.

The 2009 Cadillac DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan) is a large luxury sedan. It is available in six separate trim levels: Base, Luxury 6-Passenger, Luxury 5-Passenger, Premium Luxury, Premium Sun Edition, and Performance. The only difference between the trims relate to their features, which are usually available as optional in other trim levels. 2009 is the last year the Cadillac DTS was manufactured.

Standard interior features on the 2009 Cadillac DTS include eight-way power driver and passenger seats with power lumbar support and height adjustment, leather upholstery, bucket front seats, rear center armrest with pass-thru, cruise control, speed-proportional power steering, 12-volt power outlets, a leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel with cruise control functions, dual-zone climate control, simulated wood interior trim, auto-dimming rearview mirror, a tachometer, a trip computer, pre-wiring for cell phones, Bluetooth connectivity, OnStar telecommunication service, and an AM/FM/CD/MP3/Satellite/ audio system with eight speakers and radio data system.

Performance & Handling

The 2009 Cadillac DTS is equipped with a 4.6-liter, 275 hp, V-8 engine that is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The Performance trim level is equipped with the same 4.6-liter, V-8 engine, but it is tweaked to generate a total of 292 hp, an increase of 17 hp.

2009 Cadillac DTS standard safety features include four-wheel independent MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspensions, front and rear stabilizer bars, a four-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS), emergency braking assist, electronic brake force distribution, a remote anti-theft alarm system with engine immobilizer, stability control, traction control, tire pressure monitoring, six airbags, a lane departure alert system, and a blind-spot alert system.
