Overview

Today’s passion for small vehicles may have been powered by the 2006 Chevrolet Aveo and other cars in its class. It was introduced by Chevrolet in attempt to the fill the void they were currently lacking in small sized vehicles. It offered an above average engine coupled with impressive safety ratings that made the Aveo appealing to many. Although the Aveo featured a few updates, the price tag and final list of specification can be questionable when compared to other models in the category. If drivers are simply searching for the improvements, look to new engine upgrades along with safety features and new wheel options. It is simple to notice the upgrades although it's still are behind other brands in terms of luxury accommodations and performance.

The Range

What's New

The 2006 Chevrolet Aveo now meets ULEV-II emissions thanks to minor upgrades and alternations in the engine. Thankfully, it also found upgrades in other areas when compared to its predecessor. Drivers can also find improvements throughout the exterior thanks to new alloy wheels and color options. Safety also jumped up a notch with standard side airbags in addition to dual-stage front airbags. Back seat passengers can take comfort in the elongated rear seatbelts while they enjoy the ride. In an attempt to keep up with and even overpower the competition, it continues to improve and thrive in terms of performance.

Exterior

The 2006 Chevrolet Aveo boasts four doors and standard 14-inch steel wheels. The Special Value Sedan tends to offer incredible prices for many standard specifications such as all-season tires, privacy glass, and rear defoggers. The body style is sleek in design with a sharp front fascia on the latter model. Both utilize the available room and provide ample cargo in addition to passenger space. Available color options on both the sedan average around 10 shades including but not limited to Bright Blue, Aqua, Icelandic Blue, Summit White, Summer Yellow, and Medium Gray.

Interior

Due to the minimal price tag, buyers may not expect a lot from the 2006 Chevrolet Aveo, but it makes up for in style what it lacks in luxury. The user-friendly dash board sets the tone for the interior and nodes to the simple yet effective overall look and feel. The interior is a true reflection of the minimalist approach that the Aveo is famous for. Expect to find minimal color options for the cloth seating along with ample cargo space in both the sedan and hatchback. All models offer a four-speaker sound system with varying components including a CD player on higher trim packages. Clock, tachometer, and low fuel warnings are standard on all models.

Performance & Handling

The 2006 Chevrolet Aveo may not be known for speed, but it has the power and performance to rank high within its category. The standard 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine generates 103 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can shop the standard five-speed manual transmission or opt for the four-speed that includes additional design features to manage slippery surfaces. Don’t expect to reach zero to 60 mph in less than five seconds, but drivers can benefit for the great fuel economy and smooth handling for a car in this class.

Safety

During the NHTSA crash test, the 2006 Chevrolet Aveo was awarded a full five-star rating for the protection of front occupants in frontal impact crashes. It is sold with standard quality three point seatbelts for all driving passengers. Dual front side mounted airbags, anti-theft alarm system, daytime running lights, rear door child safety locks, and emergency interior trunk release are also standard on all models. Take note of the warranty packages that were offered on the basic, drivetrain, roadside, and rust.
