Three engine choices include a 4.3-liter V-6, 5.0-liter V-8, or a 5.7-liter V-8. The V-6 engine, which produces 200 horsepower and 255 ft-lb or torque, is standard on all models, and the V-8 engines are both optional on the Fleetside and Sportside models. With its anti-lock brakes and dual front airbags, it stands out in safety among its peers.

What's New

The 1997 Chevrolet C1500 now makes it possible to deactivate the front passenger airbag, which comes in handy when using a rear-facing child safety seat in the front. An optional third door is also now available.


The paint on the 1997 Chevrolet C1500 is monotone. The grille is colored and the bumpers are chrome. Optional exterior features include power door mirrors, a trailer hitch receiver, and a third door. These options are available on the Fleetside and Sportside models, but not on the Fleetside W/T.


Standard features for the 1997 Chevrolet C1500 include front bench seats, front cup holders, and an AM/FM radio with four speakers. Optional features include air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows. A tilt steering wheel, cassette player, and front bucket seats are other options available. The Fleetside and Sportside submodels have a few more options for the interior. These options include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, CD player, front center armrest with storage, power driver’s seat, and rear bench seats. A leather steering wheel and leather upholstery are also optional for both models.

The 1997 Chevrolet C1500 is a rear-drive vehicle. There are three engine choices that include a 4.3-liter V-6, 5.0-liter V-8, or a 5.7-liter V-8. It has an independent front suspension and power steering. The steering is speed sensitive and limited slip differential is optional on all models.


The 1997 Chevrolet C1500 comes with anti-lock brakes, dual front impact airbags with the passenger airbag being cancellable, and variable intermittent wipers standard. Optional features for the Fleetside and Sportside models include remote keyless entry, a rear window defroster, and a compass. Front fog lights are also available as an option on the Sportside model.
