The 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier is a nice looking economy car that is available as a sedan, coupe, or convertible in three different models. The main attraction is a small, but powerful engine that achieves above average gas mileage and the ability to hold its own on the road. Thanks to a well-built suspension, drivers enjoy good handling, while passengers experience a comfortable, stable ride. Drivers of sedan and convertible models get to enjoy a new transmission with traction control.

Exterior

The 1996 Chevy Cavalier coupe measure approximately 180 inches long, 68 inches wide, 53 inches tall, and has a 104.1-inch wheelbase. It comes with impact-absorbing bumpers in the front and rear and daytime running lamps. Although the design is simple, it's flashy enough to attract those with an eye for style.

Interior

The dash features logically-arranged gauges, conveniently located controls, and an AM/FM stereo with cassette player included. Performance & Handling

The 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier comes standard with a 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine that spits out 120 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque. It's teamed with a choice of a three-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. Also available in sedan and convertible models, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is capable of producing 150 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. It can be teamed with a four-speed automatic transmission with traction control.

The 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier is built with an independent strut front suspension with stabilizer bar and coil springs and a beam rear suspension with coil springs. Its small size enables it to maneuver gracefully in traffic. Corners and sharp turns are taken easily. However, large bumps in the road causes a hard bounce.
