2002 Chevrolet Corvette

The 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was only launched one year prior to the 2002 models, but modifications have been made for it. Tuning of the engine has lead to the gain of 20 horsepower over the previous year, which makes it the fastest and most powerful Corvette to date. Performance was also improved due to modifications to the suspension of the Z06, including new aluminum front stabilizer bars and improved rear-shock valving. Inside the Z06, a heads-up display that shows speed and other information on the windscreen in front of the driver is now a standard feature. All models gained an in-dash CD changer with the launch of the 2002 models.

The 2002 Chevrolet Corvette is built from fiberglass and comes in three body styles. All three have the unique shape and design that makes it stand out from the crowd, the only difference lying in the roof. The convertible is equipped with a manual cloth top that has a rear glass window and defogger. The coupe has a roof panel that can be removed from the rest of the hard top. The Z06 version has a permanent hardtop roof. Side air scoops, hidden headlights that fold up when in use and down when not, and quad taillights are all maintained across all models of the 2002 Chevrolet Corvette.

The 2002 Chevrolet Corvette can seat two passengers only. Leather buckets seats are the standard, but sport seats can be installed as an option. Cargo space is at a premium in the Z06 and convertible, but the coupe offers almost the same amount under the rear glass panel as can be found in most sedans, if not more. It's the most cargo room for any Chevrolet Corvette to date. All models are fully equipped with plenty of standard features including a six-way power driver’s seat, an in-dash CD changer audio system, air-conditioning, power windows and locks, and heated power mirrors. The analog instruments and gauges are large and easy to use, as are the controls for the various systems within the sports car.

The 2002 Chevrolet Corvette is equipped with a 5.7-liter V-8, but the basic engine provides 350 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, while the high-performance engine in the Z06 provides 405 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. The base model has a four-speed automatic transmission as standard but can be fitted with a six-speed manual transmission. The Z06 comes with the six-speed manual transmission only. No matter what version is chosen, it’s fast. Acceleration from a standstill is excellent, as is passing and merging when at speed. While the power and performance is outstanding, its handling is actually better. Even on the tightest of turns, the sports car hugs the road and steering is quick and responsive. While the best performance is seen with the manual transmission, it can be difficult to move the gear stick through the gears.

The 2002 Chevrolet Corvette provide anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, stability control, traction control, and dual front airbags as standard. Side impact airbags are not available for any of the body styles.
