My family has a long standing relationship with the Chevrolet brand, particularly the Chevrolet Impala. My grandfather owned a Chevy truck and my father owned a Chevy Impala & an old Corvette. Now, I am working on my second Chevy Impala. I recently traded in my 2008 Impala for a 2011 one. The body style had not changed and neither had the interior. I won't lie; this is not a top shelf type of car. But that is not what I was after. I needed a reliable work horse that I could depend on. The Impala has never let me down. I keep a regular maintenance schedule and have yet to suffer any major repairs. I typically drive about 45,000 miles a year for work. I spend an appreciable amount of time crossing the desert between California and Arizona. I also travel frequently between Los Angeles and San Francisco. I climb hills, go into unpaved areas, travel hundreds of miles in high temperatures and commute in bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway. I really push my vehicles to the limit. The Impala may not be the trendiest or most muscular vehicle on the road, but I find it gives me power when I need it. Its V-6 engine gives me plenty of pick up when passing and the gas pedal is very responsive. I was amazed that I could get 30 mpg on the highway during long trips; better than the published averages. The cabin is roomy and I find that everything is placed conveniently. The trunk is quite spacious with plenty of room for luggage, computer bags and an ice chest. There are no blind spots to speak of. It also provides a smooth and quiet ride.
