Additional improvements include an illuminated ashtray, front cigarette lighter, storage bins in driver side and passenger side doors, a split bench seat, height adjustable head restraints, and an illuminated glove compartment. Seats are still primarily vinyl upholstery, making the ride on warm days less than comfortable for passengers.

The 1996 Chevrolet K1500 provide better stop time and a smoother ride due to an anti-lock Braking System (ABS), torsion beam front suspension, and rigid beam rear suspension. Also, the new Vortec series of engines provides the power necessary to haul any load with style and little to no vehicle strain.
