The Suburban is a large SUV built by Chevrolet. It was first introduced in 1935 and has been available in full-size SUV and station wagon body styles. The Suburban is noted for its power and size, and has been a popular family/work SUV or station wagon since it was first introduced. Within this niche, sales have had their ups and downs, but generally have been above average within the large SUV category.
2007 models are available in a range of payloads and drivetrains, from regular duty to heavy duty with three trims: LS, LT, and LTZ in a 4x2 or 4x4. These models underwent an exterior style change, have more power options, and a few mechanical upgrades compared to the 2006 Suburban lineup.

The 2007 Chevrolet Suburban models undergo a moderate style change, boasting a sleeker, more rounded, and more aerodynamic look. Chevrolet also adds more V-8 engine options, including flex-fuel and increased power output. Chevrolet also adds a fuel management system that improves fuel efficiency by shutting off four cylinders when not in use. A rack-and-pinion steering system replaces the previous recirculating ball setup for more accurate maneuvering. Side-curtain airbags are now available as well.
The Suburban exterior is redesigned, flaunting a smoother and more rounded body, an updated and more attractive grille, single-frame headlights that wrap around the side and include fog lights, smoother sides, and a power liftgate on higher trim levels. Parking assist is available and very helpful in tight spots, and there is an optional rearview camera.
The 2007 Suburban’s interior also receives a number of upgrades, from higher-quality chrome trim to firmer-cushioned seats for better support. It can seat up to nine occupants in three rows. The front seats gains some lateral room, and the third row gains some head and leg room, while the middle row gives up just a little headroom in exchange. Some interior options include navigation, an upgraded entertainment system and a rear-seat entertainment system, dual-zone climate control, and first and second-row heated seats.
Performance & Handling
With horsepower ranging from 310 to 366, all of the 2007 Suburban models are powerful. Merging and high-speed passing are not a problem, even for this large SUV; however, towing capacity has not increased significantly between model years. The 2007 Suburban has a maximum towing capacity of 8100 pounds. Some competitors surpassed the Suburban in this regard. The 2007 Suburban is only available with a four-speed automatic.
Manipulating the Suburban can feel ""heavy,"" but the re-engineered steering has improved this somewhat. It tends to be awkward in heavy traffic and is difficult to park in tight spaces. On the open road, it is very comfortable and accelerates with ease when not weighed down, and the comfortable seating and luxury features make it a great vehicle for long trips.
Chevrolet improves the safety features on its 2007 Suburban models. All-disc anti-lock brakes, StabiliTrak, and traction control are now all standard. Side curtain airbags are available for all three rows, but not standard. They are designed to remain inflated in a rollover accident. The front seatbelts have pretensioners and activate in case of a front or rear accident.
