Introduced in 2008 as the first SUV to carry the Chrysler badge, the full-size Aspen is carried over largely unchanged into '09. Built on the Dodge Durango platform, the 2009 Chrysler Aspen has a rugged soul, luxurious styling and boasts a long list of standard features.
The Aspen is powered by either a 4.7 liter V8, putting out 303 horsepower, or an updated 5.7-liter HEMI V8 generating 376 horsepower- up from 345 in the '08. The HEMI's multiple displacement system or MDS shuts down 4 of the 8 cylinders at high speeds, conserving fuel. Both engines are linked to a 5-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the rear wheels or available all wheel drive.
Fuel economy for the Aspen ranges from 14 miles per gallon city, up to 20 miles per gallon highway.
The Aspen boasts a long list of standard features including wood grain accents in the cabin; tire pressure monitor, power driver's seat, electronic stability control and side curtain air bags. Available options include a power lift gate, eight speaker Alpine sound system with subwoofer, and 20-inch wheels.
Base MSRP is $34,730. A HEMI powered Aspen with full options will top out at around $45,000. The Aspen is backed by an impressive unlimited powertrain warranty.
Bridging off-road capability and premium interiors, the 2009 Chrysler Aspen offers luxury and power in a full-size SUV.
