It was developed using Chrysler’s Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application, which allowed its whole design to be conceived electronically. A host of luxury convenience and standard safety features adds to the appeal, making the LHS a hard sedan to pass up.

What's New

The 1999 Chrysler LHS has been given a complete new look and feel all around.

The 1999 Chrysler LHS has approximately a 208-inch length, 74-inch width, 56-inch height, and 113-inch wheelbase. It has a sleek and elegant design, similar to classic automobiles built in the 1950s. The LHS features a large grille, outlined in chrome with the Chrysler medallion etched on, body-colored front and rear bumpers, power heated door mirrors, front fog lights, a solar-reflective windshield, tinted glass, and automatic halogen projector headlamps with delay. A power moonroof is optional. It weighs 3579 pounds and sits on 17-inch chrome wheels.

The interior of the 1999 Chrysler LHS is roomy enough to fit five passengers. In the front, there are eight-way power-adjustable heated leather bucket seats with height-adjustable headrests, divided by a console that includes two cup holders. There are pockets in the doors and bins on the seats for easy storage. In the dash, there are logically-arranged gauges for clear readability, conveniently-located controls for easy use, and an open storage console. In the rear, there is a leather bench seat that comfortably fits three people. It includes a trunk pass-through for more storage room. The LHS features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, speed-sensitive power locks, one-touch power windows, a universal garage door opener, and an AM/FM stereo with a cassette and CD player included and nine Infinity speakers.

Performance & Handling

The 1999 Chrysler LHS comes packed with a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine that pumps out 253 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque. It is mated with a smooth-shifting four-speed automatic transmission. The result is swift acceleration when passing cars, driving onto highways or moving away from intersections. The LHS is capable of going from zero to 60 mph in less than eight seconds and has a top speed of about 120 mph. The LHS is built with an independent strut front suspension with a stabilizer bar and coil springs teamed with an independent multi-link rear suspension with a stabilizer bar and coil springs. This setup provides for a smooth and stable ride, even when driving at high speeds. The LHS handles nicely, maneuvering elegantly in traffic and taking sharp corners with ease. Steering is predictable, allowing for precise control.

The 1999 Chrysler LHS is equipped with anti-lock brakes on all four wheels. There are driver and front passenger front-impact airbags installed. Child safety locks are used in the rear doors. It is equipped with an anti-theft system to provide increased security. The NHTSA gives the LHS good crash test rating for passenger protection during front and side-impact collisions.
