The 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser is Chrysler's retro-styled hatchback.
Nimble and fun to drive, the 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser continues its familiar retro sedan delivery design with a modern twist.
The PT Cruiser offers two engine choices: A 2.4 liter 4 cylinder that puts out 150 horsepower and a turbocharged version of the 2.4-liter that generates 180 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels through either a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual in the normally aspirated engine. The turbocharged powerplant is available only with the automatic transmission.
Mileage for the naturally aspirated 2.4 liter is 21 city and 26 highway. The turbo also gets 21 city, but manages 27 miles per gallon, highway.
If versatility is a priority, the PT Cruiser comes equipped with 60/40 split fold rear seats, as well as a fold down front passenger seat for carrying bulky cargo.
Base MSRP for the 2009 Chrysler PT cruiser is $17,750. A fully loaded Limited trim will cost around $25,000. The PT Cruiser is backed by a generous unlimited powertrain warranty.
With styling that's been a head-turner since its inception in 2001, the Chrysler PT Cruiser remains a standout in a crowded field of compacts.
