The 2000 Daewoo Nubira provides one of three cars from Korean automaker Daewoo, now in its second year in the U.S. Nubira means “to go everywhere.? Even though it sounds loud upon acceleration, this economy car feels pretty powerful and looks nice. Optional upgrades remain relatively inexpensive, making the Nubira worth considering.

What's New
The 2000 Daewoo Nubira features a redesigned interior and exterior. The new front and rear ends give the Nubira a more modern appearance while improving visibility with larger exterior mirrors. The interior dash and fabrics have been completely redesigned. New seats have been installed, and rear passengers get an armrest and three-point seat belts for all three passengers. Daewoo also adds child seat tether anchors.
The Nubira comes with firmer springs and a new rear stabilizer bar to tighten handling.
The new SE trim replaces the former SX, and it no longer comes as a five-door hatchback. Four new color choices debut, and Daewoo also offers scheduled maintenance for the entire basic warranty period, and 24-hour roadside assistance comes standard.
Exterior
Six vibrant colors highlight the exterior of the Nubira: brighton gold metallic, galaxy white, pacific blue mica, poly silver metallic, red rock mica, and Sherwood green. This year’s models come with larger, triangular headlamps, body-colored side moldings, larger mirrors, new alloy wheels on the CDX, and wheel cover designs on the SE.
Exterior features include fog lights, a rear window defogger, power heated mirrors, a keyless entry system, power brakes, 14-inch alloy wheels, an anti-theft alarm system, a remote trunk release, intermittent windshield wipers, and a roof rack.
The optional package adds a power moonroof and power windows to the CDX.
Exterior specifications measure in at 67.7 inches wide, 57.9 inches high, 179 inches long, and it sits on a wheelbase of 101.2 inches. It has a curb weight of 2888 pounds.
Interior
The SE boasts a height-adjustable seat and six-speaker sound system with a cassette player. Passengers enjoy cloth bucket seats, a center console, a tachometer, cruise control, power steering, a tilt steering wheel, and air-conditioning. Listen to a standard AM/FM/cassette/CD audio system. The front seats include adjustable headrests, and both models seat five. The rear seat splits 60/40 and folds to allow for more cargo room.
Upgrade to add a tilt steering wheel. Upgrading to the CDX adds air-conditioning, cruise control, and leather seats.
Front interior headroom in the 2000 Daewoo Nubira measures in at 39 inches; rear head room totals 39.5 inches; rear legroom totals 34.7 inches; and rear shoulder room reaches 54.3 inches.
Performance & Handling
The CDX seems to have a slight upper hand on the SE in this category. The CDX comes equipped with a four-wheel independent suspension, power steering, and alloy wheels. The SE does not have an alloy wheel option. All models boast the same turning diameter of 34.80 feet.
Safety
Base safety and security features include a four-wheel anti-lock brake system (only on the CDX), an anti-theft alarm system, driver and passenger front airbags, and fog lights. Child safety door locks come standard on all models of the 2000 Daewoo Nubira.
