1995 Dodge B2500 Review

A well-equipped work van for the daily driver.

Reviewed by Automotive on

The 1995 Dodge B2500 is unfortunately only available with one engine, a 5.2-liter V-8, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. This may upset some drivers who are used to more choices in engines or transmissions. Even though there is only one choice, the engine provided is powerful. One outstanding feature is the CFC-free liquid air-conditioning. Overall, it seems to fall short of several competitors like the Ford E-150 or the Chevy G2500 in many categories.

While the front bumpers and rear bumpers are chrome, the headlights use halogen bulbs and come with a standard rear step and opening rear quarter windows. The exterior design is rather unconventional, offering a bubblier look than other vans in its class.

The 1995 Dodge B2500 sits up to eight occupants, including the driver. Air-conditioning comes standard and is CFC free; meanwhile, an AM/FM audio system with a digital clock and four speakers also comes standard. Cup holders are included in the front, and other storage features include a full floor console with covered box and a lockable glove compartment with lid. A cargo area light also comes standard, and the maximum cargo capacity is 30.5 cubic feet. For the smoker, there is an illuminated ashtray in the front with a front cigarette lighter.

Performance & Handling

The 1995 Dodge B2500 offers a 5.2-liter V-8 engine, which is capable of producing 220 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The front suspension comes with a stabilizer bar to help stabilize the van when turning, and the rear suspension comes supported with standard leaf springs, which help the van to support a heavier load of cargo. Power steering is also standard with cruise control.

The 1995 Dodge B2500 only comes equipped with one airbag for the driver-side front impact. Anti-lock brakes come standard, and the windshield wipers are two-speed intermittent windshield wipers, which come with variable intermittent wipe. The standard seatbelts are reel seatbelts in the front and rear with a static lap belt in the center to help keep all occupants safe.
