2009 marks the sophomore year of Dodge's revival of the Challenger badge. For '09, the lineup has been expanded to include SE and R/T trims in addition to the SRT8.
The SRT8 is still the leader of the pack, denoted by lower front valence with fog lights, rear decklid spoiler, racing stripe, and the most potent powerplant of the bunch: a massive 6.1-liter HEMI V8 putting out 425 horsepower.
The SE is powered by 250 horsepower 3.5-liter V6. The R/T is equipped with a 370 horsepower 5.7-liter V8. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic with the V6, and choice of a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual on both V8's.
Fuel economy for the Challenger ranges from 14 miles per gallon city up to 25 miles per gallon highway.
Base MSRP for the 2009 Dodge Challenger is $21,820. A fully loaded SRT8 model can cost as much as $45,000. The Challenger is backed by an impressive limited lifetime powertrain warranty.
With bold, retro styling, and now an expanded lineup, the 2009 Dodge Challenger continues to stoke the fires of the muscle car revival.
