2011 Dodge Charger Review

Safety and style in a comfortable ride.

Reviewed by Automotive on

The 2011 Dodge Charger maintains its reputation as a top-of-the-range family sedan, yet looks very much like a power machine. In fact, the 2011 Dodge Charger may come off more as a power machine than a family vehicle.

The Range

Body Styles: sedan
Engines: 3.6-liter V-6, 5.7 V-8
Transmissions: five-speed automatic
Models: Charger, Charger RT

What's New

The 2011 Dodge Charger great improves its interior finishing, dropping the lackluster plastic materials that previously gave it a low-end kind of appearance. In their place are higher-end materials, which immediately lift this car’s class a notch higher.

Dodge also upgrades the 2010 2.7-liter, V-6 engine to a more powerful 3.6-liter, V-6 engine in 2011. Power steering and improved suspension also add to the list of this year’s improvements.

The 2011 Dodge Charger exterior is looks regal with all-season tires on 17-inch alloy wheels that give support to the 58.4 inches height, 75 inches width, 199.9 inches length, and five inches of ground clearance.

The 2011 Dodge Charger is a mean machine, and the 5100-pound weight is evidence of that power. It comes in a variety of up to seven colors.

Some of the 2011 Dodge Charger’s more convenient interior features include adjustable six-way power seats, a height adjustable driver’s seat, a dual zone air conditioning system, and illuminating vanity mirrors and reading lights.

The rear seats sport 40.1 inches of leg room, so there is no trouble for taller friends or family sitting in the back. The split folding rear seat makes it easier when a driver needs to haul large and/or odd-shaped cargo. The Charger also comes with power mirrors and door locks.

Performance & Handling

The 2011 Dodge Charger sedan boasts a 3.6-liter, 24-valve, V-6 engine with 292-hp at 6350 rpm and a 260 ft-lb at 4800 rpm. It is a power machine all the way, and its performance does not disappoint. The 2011 Dodge Charger comes standard with a five-speed automatic transmission plus shift control. It is a rear-drive with a long and short arm suspension on the front wheels, a multi-link suspension on the back wheels, a front and rear stabilizer bar, and an independent four-wheel suspension. All these features make for a very stable vehicle, negotiating corners with ease, and making good speed on both straight and curvy roads.

The 2011 Dodge Charger comes fitted with various safety technologies, including an emergency brake preparation system, emergency braking assist, airbags, traction control, engine immobilizer, a four-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS), and an electronic brake distribution.

The 2011 Dodge Charger is fitted with front airbags for the driver and passenger, rear passenger airbags, and side air bags mounted to protect passengers in case of side impact. The child car seat anchors also come standard.
