2013 Dodge Charger Review

Reviewed by Automotive on

Vehicle Overview

The 2013 Dodge Charger sedan hasn't undergone a recent refresh or redesign, but slight changes have been made, including three-mode adaptive dampers and launch control on the SRT8 models, while the SXT and SXT Plus models have gained a cold air intake and exhaust system to increase the 3.6-liter V-6 engine's horsepower to 300. That engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic; V-8 Chargers get a five-speed automatic. With the V-6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission, the Charger gets an EPA-estimated 18/27 mpg city/highway.

In a recent 2013 road test, the 2013 Dodge Charger delivered muscle car performance with a family car practicality. The ride was comfortable and quiet, even when at highway speeds. Storage space is plentiful, and the back row has plenty of head and legroom. When driving in stop and go traffic or cruising down the road, the Charger performs well and keeps its composure in any situation. "Take that curving onramp a little quicker; the car can do it. Sail through those quick left-right turns; no problem in the Charger."

The 2013 Dodge Charger is available in eight model options including the SE, STX, STX Plus, R/T, R/T Plus, R/T Road & Track, R/T max, SRT8 Super Bee, and SRT8. Standard features include automatic headlights, keyless entry and ignition, six-way power driver seat, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, 4.3-inch touchscreen infotainment interface, steering wheel controls, and an iPod/USB interface. The Connectivity Group optional package adds Bluetooth audio and phone connectivity, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Other options include all-wheel drive on some models, and satellite radio.

The 2013 Dodge Charger offers a Beats by Dr. Dre audio system, new paint colors including Billet Silver Metallic, Copperhead Pearl, Granite Crystal Pearl, Jazz Blue Pearl, Phantom Black Tri-coat, and Pitch Black painted roof options are also available.
