Pros
Cons
My family (wife, two kids, two dogs) acquired a Dodge Durango from my wife's brother, who passed away unexpectedly a couple of years ago. The loss was very hard, but the car was a blessing because our old Expedition was on its way out and we had just adopted our second rather large dog. We definitely needed a big vehicle to tote all of us on family trips, visits to the grocery store, and just for day-to-day living. The Durango definitely fits the bill on that part. It is a large SUV and fairly roomy inside. It's super helpful on trips to Costco, when we stock up on enough toilet paper and cheese balls to last into the next millennium it seems - until we're back the next month for more restocking! It's a very powerful vehicle and has great towing capabilities. We discovered this when we helped my mother and father-in-law move from their house to a condo and had to rent a Uhaul trailer. On the downside, it does not get great gas mileage, which is quite a con in this economy with the rather frightening price of gas. Our sons (12 and 14 years old) have both complained about lack of legroom in the second-row, although the dogs don't have much complaining in that department, so long as the windows are open at least a crack. It probably wouldn't be my first choice in purchasing a larger SUV for my family, but beggars can't be choosers and we are definitely grateful for our Durango.
