The Dodge Grand Caravan, the van that changed our idea of family car over 20 years ago, enters its 5th generation with a complete redesign and a number of innovative features.
The short wheelbase version has been dropped, hence the Grand nameplate.
Engine options range from a 175 horsepower 3.3 liter V6, to a 197 horsepower 3.8 liter 6, up to a 4.0 liter V6 that produces 251 horsepower. Transmission options are 4 or 6 speed automatics.
Trims are SE and SXT. New innovations available in these models include one-touch folding rear bench and overhead compartments, in addition to dodge's new swivel-n-go seating system that lets the second row seats spin 180 degrees to face the 3rd row bench.
Mileage ranges from 16 miles per gallon city, up to 24 highway.
Base MSRP comes in at $21,740, however a well-equipped STX will top $27,000.
With many new features, the 2008 Dodge Caravan looks to give the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna a run for their money.
