The 2007 Dodge Nitro is an aggressively styled mid-sized SUV with optional full time all wheel drive. Combined with an available 6-speed manual transmission, the Nitro is an SUV with the heart of a sports car.
Nitro's engines are a 3.7 liter V6 generating 210 horsepower and a 4.0 liter V6 that puts out 260 horsepower. The 3.7 liter sends it power through either a 4-speed automatic transmission or a close-ratio 6 speed manual transmission. The 4.0 comes standard with the 5-speed automatic usually reserved for Dodge's massive HEMI V8's.
The Nitro comes in SXT, SLT, and R/T trims. Features like a rear auxiliary power outlet come standard in all trims, but for options such as touch screen display and rear seat video screens, you will have to opt for the SLT or R/T. The R/T comes with 20 inch chrome wheels and billet-style grille standard.
Gas mileage for the 3.7 liter is 18 miles per gallon city and 24 highway. The 4.0 liter gets 17 city and 21 highway miles per gallon.
Base MSRP is $19,350, but an optioned-out Nitro can run into the low $20's.
With the power and handling to match its sporty yet rugged styling, the 2007 Dodge Nitro aims to own the road.
