Big and bold, the 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty work trucks come standard with HEMI power under the hood and a power upgrade for 2009.
The base 5.7-liter HEMI V8 produces 355 horsepower; an increase of 25 horsepower from '08. Also available are a 5.9-liter turbo diesel inline 6 that puts out 325 horsepower and a 350 horsepower 6.7-liter turbo diesel inline 6. All engines are available with a 6-speed manual transmission, a 6 speed automatic or a 4-speed automatic, sending power to the rear wheels or available rear wheel drive with low range.
Available trims are ST, SLT, SXT, and Laramie. Standard equipment includes heavy-duty shock absorbers, trailer tow wiring with 4-pin connector, 17-inch wheels and a 12 volt power outlet. Optional creature comforts are plentiful and include a 7-speaker Infinity 6-disc CD changer, power sunroof, GPS navigation, and DVD entertainment system.
The Ram 2500 will tow up to 9,200 pounds and can carry a maximum payload of 3,120 pounds.
Base MSRP for the 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 is $28,685. A fully loaded Ram 3500 can top $60,000. Gas powered Rams are backed by an unlimited powertrain warranty, while diesel models get a 5-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
