Overview

The 1996 Eagle Talon comes with three engine choices, two transmission choices, and four trim levels. The base model and the ESi comes with the 140 horsepower engine, but the latter also comes with the option of the 210 horsepower or 205 horsepower engines. The TSi and four-wheel-drive models come with the 210 horsepower engine as standard with the option of the 205 horsepower engine, which provides a little more torque than the 210 horsepower engine.

What's New

The 1996 Eagle Talon gets a revised sound system, and a panic alarm and HomeLink transmitter are newly available. There are also two new paint colors available, and the ESi trim now has 16-inch wheels as standard.

Exterior

The 1996 Eagle Talon comes with body-colored body side moldings, lip spoiler, light tinted windows, fixed antenna, and a full-size spare wheel and tire. The base model and ESi come with dual manual remote mirrors, while the TSi and four-wheel drive come with dual power remote mirrors. The base and ESi come with steel wheel, while the TSi and four-wheel drive come with alloy wheels. The ESi, TSi, and four-wheel drive also come with a liftgate cargo door. The ESi and TSi come with optional four-wheel drive with power front windows, power rear windows, and a first row power sunroof. The sunroof is also available as an option for the four-wheel drive.

Interior

The 1996 Eagle Talon comes with front bucket seats, which are six-way adjustable with memory. The rear seats are split-bench seats. All seats are upholstered with cloth and the front head restraints are adjustable. Other standard features include front and rear reading lights, a full floor console, tilt steering wheel, and front cup holders, an illuminated glove box, front map lights, cargo light, and day-night rearview mirror. All models have the capability of getting air-conditioning installed.

The 1996 Eagle Talon base model and ESi come with an AM/FM stereo, four speakers, and driver and passenger visor vanity mirrors with an AM/FM/Cassette audio system and 10 speakers as optional. The ESi also has the option of a CD player. The TSi and four-wheel drive come with an AM/FM/Cassette audio system, six speakers, driver and passenger vanity mirrors, driver and passenger lumbar support, and a center front armrest. Optional features include a CD player, 12 speakers, graphic equalizer, and leather upholstery.

Performance & Handling

The 1996 Eagle Talon comes with a front strut suspension and rack and pinion steering. All models except for the four-wheel drive are front drive. A front anti-roll bar and speed sensitive steering are standard for all models. Cruise control is optional for the ESi and TSi, not available on the base model, and standard on the four-wheel-drive model. The TSi and four-wheel-drive model comes with front shocks and a rear anti-roll bar as standard. The four-wheel-drive model also comes with the option of a locking/limited rear slip differential.

Safety

The 1996 Eagle Talon comes with standard driver and passenger front-impact airbags, power remote fuel flap/trunk release, variable intermittent windshield wipers, and a rear windshield wiper. It also comes with fully automatic headlamps, an under hood light, dome light with delay, and illuminated entry. It also warns the driver when the fuel level is low, and anti-lock brakes are optional for all models.

The 1996 Eagle Talon base model comes with front disc/rear drum brakes, while all other models come with four-wheel disc brakes. A rear window defogger is optional on the base and ESi and standard on the other models. Remote keyless entry is available as an option on all models except the base. Front fog lights are standard on the TSi and four-wheel drive. The four-wheel drive also has power door locks as standard, which is optional for the ESi and TSi. A programmable garage door opener and content theft-deterrent alarm system are other options for the ESi, TSi, and four-wheel-drive models.
