There's virtually nothing more American than the full-size pickup truck. Seeing a Ford F-150 on the road, you could get the impression that it comes with a 10-gallon hat and a country music CD preloaded. The only problem is, you have to make sure you're getting one of the models built in Michigan or Missouri, as it's also built in both Mexico and Venezuela. Powered by everything from a naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V-6 to a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 to a 5.0- or even 6.2-liter V-8, the Ford F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in the U.S. for more than three decades. While the smaller Ford Ranger has left our shores to be built abroad and sold all over the world, the F-Series pickup trucks remain a uniquely American icon, so much so that sometimes even foreign auto journalists come to the U.S. just to drive the truck and see what its appeal is.
