The first Chrysler product to wear the name "Avenger" was a British Hillman, which makes the fact that the current Dodge Avenger one of the most American cars on the road today all the more ironic for this story. Chrysler Europe absorbed Hillman's parent company and kept the name to use for future products that would come to the U.S. as Dodges. The current Dodge Avenger is built with 75 percent of its parts coming from the U.S., currently built in Sterling Heights, Michigan. There are some versions more American than others, though, as Chrysler builds engines for the Avenger in both Michigan and Mexico.
