0.9% Financing Expires 10/31/12 The 2012 Acura MDX is one of those rare vehicles that offers up a little something for everybody. Want a sporty driving vehicle? The MDX has the moves, thanks to Super Handling All-Wheel Drive and a firm suspension. Want something that can haul the whole family, and then some? The seven-passenger MDX will leave everybody with room to spare. Need a practical cargo hauler? Then drop the seats, and you'll have enough cargo room in the MDX to embarrass yourself at the local Costco. But, thanks to its luxury badge, the MDX didn't quite offer a lowball price. The 0.9-percent financing deal on the 2012 Acura MDX doesn't quite bridge the gap to cheap-wheels completely, but your monthly payment will be much lower, and the MDX is worth it.
$2,000 Cash Back Expires 10/31/12 Chalk this one up to new-models-coming-soon syndrome. All three vehicles will soon be redesigned, and although none receive more than a facelift, in all three cases it's much needed. Still, there's little to argue about with these three haulers. The Buick Enclave in particular stands out, thanks to its exceptionally quiet interior. But all three benefit from up to eight passenger seating, tons of cargo space, reasonably efficient engines, and now, $2,000 sitting on the hood. Will the replacements be $2,000 better than these vehicles? Maybe, but if you need wheels now, these are a good choice.
$1,500 Cash Back Expires 10/31/12 The 2012 Buick LaCrosse was on our list last month, and it returns again, although this time we're citing the entire lineup. The Buick LaCrosse is already an affordable car, and a real alternative to other large front-wheel drive luxury cars, such as the Lexus ES. While not as sporty as some of its rivals, the Buick LaCrosse is comfortable, quiet, offers tons of features for the money, and it comes with a fuel efficient hybrid powertrain that leaves plenty of room in the trunk for groceries, although in fairness, probably not $1,500 worth, even if you shop at Whole Foods.
$1,000 Cash Back Expires 10/31/12 The Buick Regal is in many ways the smaller cousin to the bigger Buick LaCrosse. Not only are they both from the same brand, but even under the skin they share more than you might imagine. Like the LaCrosse, the Regal is a good buy. We recently drove the 2012 Buick Regal GS, a high-performance model with a turbocharged engine and six-speed manual transmission. While we didn't think the performance of the Regal GS justified its price tag, of the standard Regal we said, "If you're looking for a premium sedan that straddles the line between standard-issue family cars like the Toyota Camry, but without the price tag of an Acura or Lexus, then the Regal is a great choice. Enjoy it." With an extra $1,000 in your pocket, enjoying it will be that much easier.
$3,000 Cash Back Expires 10/31/12 There's an all-new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu heading to dealerships right this second, and that means there are some screaming deals on the previous-generation Malibu at those very same dealerships. Chevrolet only has itself to blame on this one. It's odd trickle-out introduction of the new Malibu started earlier this year with the Malibu Eco mild hybrid, continued with the base four-cylinder Malibu, and will culminate later this year with the new turbocharged Malibu. However, it has continued to sell the old car alongside the new one…and some people like the old one more. We're betting with $3,000 sitting on the hood, they're going to like them that much more.
$3,500 Cash Back Expires 10/31/12 The 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 is also a holdover from last month's list, although we've added the GMC Sierra this month as well. Both trucks are offering $3,500 back from the manufacturer. Now, granted, these are last year's models, and there's $2,000 on the 2013 models, but the 2013 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra are virtually identical to the 2012 models. So why spend the extra money just to have a "newer" year? Besides, there's an all-new pair of big GM trucks coming soon, which helps explain the incentives in the first place. We say, skip the 2013s until the last 2012 is sold, and take that $3,500.
0.9%-1.9% Financing Expires 10/31/12 Honda rarely offers direct cash-back incentives on its vehicles. However, it's perfectly happy to offer up cut-rate financing. How does 0.9% sound on a Honda Odyssey? The financing deal applies to every Odyssey except the LX, which is fine, because you probably don't want the base model anyhow; it's mostly targeted at fleet operators. The EX can seat eight in comfort, accommodate up to five LATCH-equipped child seats, and can swallow cargo and people with the best of them. Step up to the Honda Odyssey Touring for better fuel economy, leather, DVD player and the rest of the luxury trappings that seem so necessary for modern life.
$1,500 Cash Back, 1.9%-3.9% financing Expires 10/31/12 Sometime late next year, we'll see an all-new 2014 Kia Forte, one that will likely look a lot like the smaller Kia Rio subcompact, if spy photos are to be believed. But for now, you can get the current generation Forte for $1,500 less, thanks to a little incentivizing by Kia. The Forte offers up coupe, sedan, and hatchback bodies, good fuel economy, decent power, and sharp styling. Prices are already low, and the extra cash on the hood--or the low finance--is a definite deal sweetener.
$500 Cash Back, 0.9%-3.9% financing Expires 10/31/12 It's too much to say that the Kia Optima singlehandedly doubled Kia's sales in the past few years. But it sure helped. The sharp-looking four-door's lines come straight from the pen of the man who is responsible for Audi's current cutting edge design. The interior, ride, and handling all feel like something from a more expensive car. But for the 2013 model year there are a few changes, mainly, that the mid-level EX model will no longer be available with the turbocharged engine. It strikes us as an odd decision, but hey, that's why we're journalists and not product planners. If you want an Optima EX with a turbo, you'd better take advantage of the $500 on the hood before they're all snapped up.
$2,500 Cash Back, 1.9%-3.9% financing Expires 10/31/12 Kia's minivan is going away for the 2013 model year, which means there's some serious money available for anybody considering the 2012 Kia Sedona. While the Sedona may not have the more advanced features found on some of its competitors--there's no active cruise control, power folding seats, and so forth--it nails the basics. It's big, comfortable, quiet, and powerful thanks to last year's addition of Kia's 271-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine. If you're looking for a no-frills family transporter, it's a good bargain, made better with the addition of $2,500 in cash back.
