2010 Ferrari 458 Italia Review

Out of this world performance and heavenly good looks

Reviewed by Automotive on

In a Nutshell
The 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia is an exotic sports car that is visually breathtaking and still can hit super speeds with ease. With a direct-injection, high-compression, twin-cam 4.5-liter naturally-aspirated V-8 engine, the Ferrari 458 Italia comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

With its mid-all-aluminum engine, the best super-speed components, and sleek design, the Ferrari 458 Italia is nothing short of amazing. Plus, its Magnetorheological shocks ensure riding compliancy and exceptional driving ability. Combine that with a keen steering ratio, and the sports car delivers amazingly agile responsiveness. Weighing only 3,300 pounds in all, Ferrari 458 Italia is a light, lean, aggressive machine.

New for 2010

The 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia is an all-new model featuring a sensational V-8 engine, a new dual-clutch seven-speed transmission, triple rear exhausts, newly designed tires, and super-thin aluminum skin.

On the Outside

One of the most striking designs on the road, the Ferrari 458 Italia is functional as well. Get between 124 and 200 mph, and the SMC wings in the front air intakes deflect to reduce drag.

From the Inside

The Ferrari 458 Italia boasts larger shift paddles, optional featherweight carbon fiber seats, and a Vehicle Dynamics Assist display.

Driving Performance

While its zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds is simply scalding, the Ferrari 458 Italia engine's flat-plane-crank design generates a haunting howl. The Delphi MR shocks monitor the ride every millisecond, and standard carbon-ceramic brakes with a new Prefill technology, which moves the pads into light contact with the discs when the throttle is lifted, make for screaming stops.

Safety Equipment

Standard safety features on the Ferrari 458 Italia include antilock carbon-ceramic brakes, traction and stability control, and side airbags. Optional features include rearview camera and parking sensors.
