The 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid has an all-new look, and Ford is claiming a 32% increase in fuel economy from the previous generation.
Power comes from a 2.3-liter gasoline engine combined with an electric motor, all sending power to either 2 or 4 wheels via a continuously variable transmission.
Regenerative braking, that produces power from braking, is incorporated into this hybrid- aiding in the re-charging of the on-board batteries.
The Escape Hybrid comes in one trim. Standard features include a 60/40 folding split rear seat, an innovative multi-stage center console, and dual zone climate control.
Optional equipment includes Audiophile 6-disc sound system, navigation, and power moon roof.
EPA numbers for this hybrid are 34 miles per gallon city, and 30 miles per gallon highway.
Base MSRP for the 2 wheel drive version is $26,265, while a fully loaded 4 wheel drive model can break $30,000
The redesigned 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid combines the versatility of an SUV with the economical and environmental benefits of a hybrid.
