The '09 Ford Escape compact SUV is one year removed from a major design overhaul that featured new sheet metal and a more refined interior. For 2009, the powertrain has been updated as well.
The base engine has been upgraded to 171 horsepower 2.4-liter inline-4. The 3.0-liter V6 has been tuned to produce 240 horses - up from 200 in '08. Both front wheel drive and all wheel drive models receive power through a new 6-speed automatic transmission, while the base front wheel drive model is available with a 5-speed manual.

Trims are Base XLS Manual, XLS, XLT, and Limited. Standard equipment on all Escapes includes 60/40 split-folding rear seat, floor cargo hooks, and a more flexible, multi-level center console. Available features include a wet storage system in the back and audio input jack.
Base MSRP for the 2009 Ford Escape is $20,100, while a Limited with full options can cost as much as $35,000. The Escape is protected by a 5-year, 60,000-mile power train warranty.
