Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this

  • Handles Well
  • Great Gas Mileage

  • Water leakage
  • Transmission issues
  • Lacks Power

I've currently got a lease going on a 2012 Ford Escape and I honestly won't be disappointed when the lease is up. It's not the worst car that I have ever driven, but it's certainly not amongst the better cars. First things first – I've definitely had some issues with the car. It has been into the shop a few times now, and I've only had the car less than a year. There are some definite issues with the transmission. It jumps gears and just doesn't work well. There is a terrible vibration whenever the car idles at a stoplight. There is also a strange ticking when the car starts up. The power is rough going, although it seems to be ok once the car gets started at least. I've also had some problems with water leaking into the passenger compartment from below the car, which is not at all acceptable, in my opinion. Negative thoughts aside, there are definitely some benefits to the Ford Escape. First of all, I live in an area with a ton of snow for a great amount of time every year. All wheel drive paired with my snow tires means that I can actually get around without fear. The 30 mpg on the highway is also quite nice. I get about 24 mpg driving around town as well which is pretty good for an SUV. The interior is incredibly comfortable, at least for the shorter drives I've taken. It's quiet, the AC works really well, and the stereo and media amenities are great.
