The 2010 Ford Expedition
is a full-size crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV) that is available in an array of trim levels: XLT Sport Utility, XLT EL Sport Utility, Eddie Bauer Sport Utility, Eddie Bauer EL Sport Utility, Limited Sport Utility, Limited EL Sport Utility, King Ranch Sport Utility, and King Ranch EL Sport Utility. Propelled by a 5.4-liter V-8 engine coupled to a six-speed auto transmission, the Ford Expedition is equipped with four-wheel drive.
Since it is a truck-based utility vehicle, the Ford Expedition has a truck chassis that allows it to handle a 1,620-pound payload but the ride quality suffers as a result. EPA-rated fuel economy for the big SUV is only in the 9 mpg city / 13 mpg highway range, but its safety crash ratings are tops.
New for 2010
For 2010, the Ford Expedition receives Trailer Sway Control and MyKey as standard features.

On the Outside
A brawny-looking SUV, the Ford Expedition Limited trims have body-color grilles, while the Eddie Bauer and XLT trims sport two-tone paint. The EL trims have a 12.0-inch longer wheelbase than the other trims and are 14.8 inches longer overall.
From the Inside
With a spacious interior, the Ford Expedition seats up to eight passengers with a standard third row that is optional on the XLT trims. The EL trims provide a maximum of 128.2 cubic-feet of cargo space.
The 2010 Ford Expedition's SOHC 5.4-liter V-8 engine generates 310 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Expedition can tow up to 9,000 pounds and haul up to 1,620 pounds, due to its ladder-frame chassis. While it has some off-road capability, the Expedition's nearly three-ton curb weight hinders acceleration and fuel economy.
Standard safety equipment on the Ford Expedition includes front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags (including third-row coverage), trailer sway control, and roll stability control. Optional are a rear-view camera and rear sensor system.
