The 2011 Ford F-150 continues improving the model that has been the best-selling vehicle in America for nearly 30 years, and with good reason. This very solid truck enjoys a reputation for reliability and good towing capabilities. In recent years it has become much easier and nicer to drive, and it has enough muscle to hold its own amongst its rivals.
One of the reasons the Ford F-150 remains so popular stems from Ford’s ability to constantly listen to its customers and take their suggestions and criticisms on board. This serves as a very versatile truck, and although it primarily gets used as a work truck, many choose it simply for everyday family use, especially for weekends spent camping or fishing. Its hulking good looks ensure it will remain a popular choice for many years to come.
Drivers can choose the most basic model, which seems ideal for commercial use, or something a little more luxurious and fun. The limited edition models enjoy extreme popularity, and looking at the Raptor, anyone can easily see the attraction.

The 2011 Ford F-150 addresses complaints about lack of power with a brand-new engine lineup. Models now come with electric assist power steering, and Ford offers a new Lariat Limited trim level. The Raptor also offers a crew cab.
This full-size pickup truck has rugged good looks and Ford offers a model to fit everyone's tastes. The well-styled entry-level models look pleasingly chunky, while the extreme offroader Raptor manages to look menacingly sporty. The fact that this model has been on the road for so long attests its popularity.
Depending on the model, the interior can feel luxurious or more geared towards commercial use. The most basic model comes with 17-inch steel wheels, vinyl seats, air-conditioning, and a radio. In contrast, the top-of-the-line models features leather upholstery, heated driver and passenger seats with power-adjustable lumbar support, dual- zone climate control, Bluetooth, and an iPod/USB audio interface, as well as many other features.
All the models comfortably seat four people, but six fit for shorter journeys. The back seats feel surprisingly comfortable and offer impressive amounts of legroom. All the models have easy-to-use controls and employ good-quality materials. The navigation system uses a clear eight-inch screen. Some of the models such as the Harley-Davidson and Raptor have some unique interior design features.
Performance & Handling
The Ford F-150 handles well, largely due to the more powerful engines. It delivers a very quiet and smooth ride, especially for its size. The base engine, a powerful 3.7-liter V-6, generates 302 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque. An optional upgrade to a five-liter V-8 gets you 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. The top-of-the-range 6.2-liter V-8 produces 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. A twin turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 completes the lineup.
All the models come with a good number of airbags, including front-seat side and full-length curtain airbags. Other standard safety features include anti-lock disc brakes, stability control, and trailer sway control. Previous models of the F-150 rate highly in government safety tests.
