2011 Ford Fiesta Review

One of those cars where good things come in small packages

Reviewed by Automotive on

In a Nutshell
The 2011 Ford Fiesta is an all-new subcompact economy four-door sedan that is also available as a five-door hatchback. Equipped with a 1.6-liter I-4 engine coupled to either a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, the Ford Fiesta achieves excellent fuel economy in the range of 28 mpg city / 37 mpg highway.

Despite its compact body, the Ford Fiesta has loads of legroom and adequate passenger room, and the cargo area is satisfactory, particularly in the hatchback body style. Boasting a long list of exceptional amenities, the Fiesta has a nicely styled interior. All in all, the Ford Fiesta combines good performance, utility, and economy.

New for 2011

The 2011 Ford Fiesta is an all-new vehicle for the U.S. market and was styled especially for North America.

Essentials

Engine: 1.6L I-4
Transmissions: 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic
Body Styles: Sedan, hatchback
Trims: S Sedan, SE Sedan, SEL Sedan, SE Hatchback, SES Hatchback

On the Outside

The Ford Fiesta sedan is 13.5 inches longer than the hatchback. While the Fiesta S and SE trims come with 15-inch wheels, the SEL and SES get16-inchers.

From the Inside

While the Ford Fiesta's rear seat is cramped, offering just 31.2-inches of legroom, the front seats fit tall passengers comfortably. Sedans offer 12.8 cubic-feet of cargo space, while hatchbacks get up to 26.0 cubic-feet.

Driving Performance

Even though, the Ford Fiesta's 1.6-liter I-4 engine makes just 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque, it's perfectly adequate because the car only weighs 2,500-2,600 pounds.

Safety Equipment

Standard safety features for the Ford Fiesta include seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag, while traction and stability control plus integrated blind spot mirrors are standard as well.

Gas Mileage

Manual: 28 mpg city/37 mpg highway
Automatic: 29 mpg city/38 mpg highway
Automatic w/SFE package: 29 mpg city/40 mpg highway
