The 2007 Ford Mustang carries over from the 2006 model relatively unchanged. Available as a 2+2 coupe or a convertible, it comes in five different trim levels. With a V-6 engine, it offers three trims to choose from, and the GT (equipped with the V-8) provides two trims.
The Ford Mustang has been in production since the mid-1960s. Both its exterior and interior styling recalls American muscle cars to mind, while still keeping up with the times. The last redesign occurred for the 2005 model year, so the 2007 Ford Mustang remains mostly the same as the beginning of the fifth generation.
Body Styles: 2+2 coupe, convertible

Basically, the only changes seen with the launch of the 2007 Ford Mustang concern features and appearance packages. New packages include the Comfort package for the 2007 Ford Mustang Premium model and all the GT models and the California Special package for the GT models only. Grabber Orange joins the list of exterior paint choices for all models. Also, an input jack for MP3 players enhances the radio system, and Sirius satellite radio provides an option for all models, as do heated seats.
The 2007 Ford Mustang’s exterior combines modern lines with a retro design that transports anyone looking at the car back to the 1960s. The large grille, round headlights, canted nose, and grille-mounted fog lights of the GT models give the 2007 Ford Mustang the look of an American muscle car. Add to this, the sculpting of the sides, the rear lights, and the line of the coupe roof, and you get a car that looks like the ponies of the 1960s. With many exterior paint colors and appearance packages, the 2007 Ford Mustang can be customized to suit every driver.
Inside the 2007 Ford Mustang, the retro design continues. Old-school gauges, a dual-hooded dash, and a round hub steering wheel make any driver feel like he has climbed into one of the original Ford Mustangs. The smooth integration of modern technology and design keeps the interior in line with other cars in its class. The basic interior uses a lot of hard plastic, so many may want to upgrade with one of the interior packages or options.
Four adults fit comfortably in both the coupe and convertible Ford Mustangs. Both models offer plenty of head and legroom in both the front and rear seats. The gear shift and instrument controls seem easy to reach, and the large retro gauges look clear and functional.
Performance & Handling
Two engine options for the 2007 Ford Mustang include a four-liter V-6 that provides 210 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque and a 4.6-liter V-8 for the GT models, with an output of 300 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual transmission comes standard on all models, while a five-speed automatic transmission is available.
Whether in the coupe or the convertible, with the V-6 or the V-8 engine, the 2007 Ford Mustang moves fast. Acceleration off the line feels quick, although some may find it lacking when passing on the highway. Steering seems responsive, and the Mustang grips the road when cornering. The ride feels relatively smooth and comfortable. It stays very quiet, even the convertible models.
All models come equipped with standard four-wheel disc brakes. For the V-6 models, anti-lock brakes and traction control remain optional, but they come standard with the V-8 models. The only airbags available include front side airbags, and they remain optional on all models. Stability control is not available for any of the models of the 2007 Ford Mustang. In government crash testing, the Mustang scores the highest rating for front impacts, and four out of five stars for side impacts.
