The 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo shown here has been only slightly computer enhanced, revealing how the production flagship for the 997 series will look. Although there have been numerous spy images circulating online, this image reveals the true aero package and trim details. The proven Turbo formula remains the same with the next-generation car: a new AWD system, improved driver-aiding technology, wide stance, and distinctive wing. As seen here, there are increased bodywork concessions to funneling brake-cooling air, as well as cheating the wind. Power is expected to hit close to 500 horses from a twin-turbocharged version of the Carrera 3.8-liter engine. A new twin-clutch gearbox called PDK will be offered, allowing direct sequential manual shifting. The combination of power, body enhancements, and aero underbody pieces will see top speed peg well past 190 mph. Zero to 60 mph times should dip into the hallowed sub-4-second range thanks to power delivery, AWD, and massive contact patches. The 997 Turbo and Targa is expected to go on sale in Europe spring 2006, followed shortly afterwards with sales in North America.
