Maranello replacement moves closer to production

1. 612 Scaglietti-style grille is key part of the Pininfarina design, executed under the direction of Frank Stephenson, now Fiat's design chief.

2. Lightweight all-aluminum chassis is similar in construction to that of the 612 Scaglietti.

3. Rearview mirrors are from the F430. Parts sharing helps keep development costs under control. Expect weight to be under 4000 pounds.

4. Car will make its public debut at the Geneva show in March.

5. Capacity of the V-12 has been bumped from the 5.75 liters of the Maranello to 6.0 liters. Power is said to be at least 575 horses.

6. Sophisticated underbody aerodynamics result of F1 wind-tunnel work. Ensure high-speed stability without ugly wings.

7. Six-speed transaxle at rear of car helps weight distribution. Will feature the latest iteration of Ferrari's F1 paddle-shift control.

8. Engine is mounted behind the front axle, as in 612 Scaglietti, to promote ideal chassis balance.

9. Suspension will feature advanced electronic damper control.

10. Strictly two seats inside, like 575 Maranello.
