The upcoming 2008 Porsche 911 GT2 has been caught prowling the highways and byways yet again, this time on U.S. soil.

Out front, the air dam is larger than the Turbo's and gone are the fog lamps. At the rear, the GT2's signature massive wing is affixed, but may come slightly modified from what is seen on the prototype pictured here. Other changes include venting that runs around the back of the car with the exhaust tips integrated into the bodywork.

Power will come via a massaged version of the 911 Turbo's twin-turbo 3.6-liter boxer six cranking out around 520 horsepower, sent to the rear wheels. Top speed is expected to exceed 200 mph. Previous reports have indicated the GT2 should come in some 200 lbs lighter than the Turbo, which tips the scales at 3495 lbs.

As with previous GT2 variants, expect a Spartan interior with lack of air conditioning and the removal of sound deadening material. Additionally, the GT2 will reportedly come with a massive carbon-ceramic brake setup and a race-prepped suspension. For those looking to take their car straight to the track, a roll-cage, one-piece racing seats, and fire extinguisher will also reportedly be available at no charge.

Expect the ultimate turbo Porsche to bow in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show and arrive in dealer showrooms sometime in 2008 with a price tag in the $150,000 range.
