Cadillac's upcoming BRX small crossover has been spotted in Zebra-style garb for the first time. The mule was running side-by-side with a 2008 Saturn Vue, which is based on the same Theta platform that will underpin the BRX as well as the Saab 9-4x.
The heavy camo obscures any real details, but the shape of the front-end cover seems to be roughly that of the grille of the 08 CTS, though the headlights may end up being different from the vertical units that have become a Cadillac staple.
The shape of the BRX is very similar to that of the Vue, as can be seen in the side-by side photo. The main difference between the two in the rear is the larger D-pillar of the BRX and the dual-exhausts that accommodate the BRX's engine. GM's high feature 3.6-liter V-6 will likely be the main engine, though the 2.8-liter variant could possibly return in a base model. Expect a diesel engine to be offered on European models. It remains to be seen if Cadillac will offer only AWD models or if a front wheel drive BRX will be in the product mix as well.
The BRX is widely expected to replace the larger SRX, which is based on the same Sigma platform as the CTS. It's not expected to arrive before next fall at the earliest, with some reports saying it will come some time in 2009 as a 2010 model.
