Now that the wraps have been taken off the next-generation Mini, attention has turned to the much-anticipated second variant of the vehicle line called the Traveller.

Concept versions of the stretched, wagonesque Mini made their way around the world's auto show circuit and then were quickly spotted testing earlier this year.

The latest photos find the Traveller doing hot laps around Germany's Nurburgring in advance of its street debut approximately two years from now.

It's becoming clear from the spy shots seen here that the vehicle will come equipped with rear suicide doors a la the Mazda RX-8 (note the strip of vertical black tape along the side), helping to ease access to rear passengers in an effort to create the first five seat Mini.

It also looks as though the hinged doors at the rear of the vehicle will remain similar to what was seen on the Traveller concepts.

The Traveller derives its name from a four-seat Mini that made its debut in September 1960 as the Austin Seven Countryman and the Morris Mini Traveller. Like the new vehicle, the original Traveller featured two doors at the rear. The original vehicle also featured wooden sideboards extending from the B-pillar backward, but was later available without the wood trim. In 1969 the Mini Clubman Estate replaced the Traveller and Countryman. More than 400,000 units of the Mini wagon in all its forms were produced between 1960 and 1982.
